Payment & Guarantee Policy

Last updated: 25 August 2026

This page explains what happens when you choose to pay a company through Quortek for a job, instead of paying them directly. It's written to be read before you pay, not buried afterward. That's the point of it.

This is not legal advice. It's a plain description of how our payment and guarantee process works. The summary of your rights in Section 5 is general information about consumer protection principles, not a complete or authoritative statement of your legal rights.

1. Paying directly vs. paying through the platform

Nothing forces you to pay through the app. You're always free to agree a price with a company and pay them directly, exactly as you would if you'd found them any other way. This policy, and the guarantee it describes, only applies to jobs you choose to pay for in-app.

Pay the company directly Pay through Quortek
Price Agreed between you and the company The company's quote, shown before you pay
Receipt Whatever the company gives you An itemized invoice, always available in your account
Guarantee enforcement Between you and the company only We hold the company to their stated guarantee period (see Section 3)
If something goes wrong You negotiate with the company directly You can file a guarantee claim; we get involved

2. How in-app payment works

  1. Once a company has accepted your job, they can send you a price quote and a guarantee period for their work directly in the app.
  2. If you choose to pay it in-app, the payment is processed by Stripe. We never see or store your full card details.
  3. The amount you pay is split: the company receives their quoted price minus a small platform fee (currently 5%, shown to you before you pay). That fee covers the cost of processing the payment and running the guarantee process described below; it is not an extra charge added on top of the company's price, it's taken from it.
  4. You get an invoice immediately: the amount paid, the fee breakdown, and the guarantee period the company committed to, with its exact expiry date.

3. The guarantee: how it's actually enforced

If a company quotes a guarantee period (say, 90 days) and you pay in-app, that guarantee is something we actively stand behind, not just a promise printed on an invoice:

  1. If something goes wrong within the guarantee period, you file a claim in the app describing the problem, referencing that specific job.
  2. We contact the company and require them to come back and correct the work at no extra cost to you.
  3. If they fix it, we ask you to confirm the problem is actually resolved before the claim is closed. Your confirmation is what closes it, not the company saying it's done.
  4. If they refuse, or don't fix it properly, one of two things happens: we arrange for a different company to correct the work, or the original company faces suspension from the platform. Either way, the claim still only closes once you confirm the problem is corrected.
  5. A company that repeatedly fails to honor valid guarantee claims is removed from the platform. This is enforced by an administrator reviewing the claim, not an automated process, so a claim can also be found not valid (for example, if it's outside the guarantee period, or unrelated to the original job).

This is the practical difference paying in-app buys you: the guarantee isn't just a number on an invoice, it's something we're positioned to enforce, because we hold the payment record, the guarantee period, and the relationship with the company all in one place.

4. What isn't covered

  • Work paid for directly, off-platform (see Section 1).
  • Problems reported after the guarantee period has expired.
  • Damage or issues unrelated to the original work performed.
  • Jobs where no price was ever quoted and paid in-app.

5. Your rights as a consumer (general information)

If you're a consumer in the EU, general consumer protection principles apply to services you pay for, including, depending on the circumstances, rights to clear pre-payment information about price and the main characteristics of the service, an itemized receipt, and remedies if a service isn't performed as agreed. Distance-contract rules (including a right of withdrawal) can apply to online purchases, though services that have been fully performed with your agreement are commonly treated differently under those rules. This paragraph is a general orientation, not a complete or authoritative statement of your rights. For anything specific to your situation, consult the Cyprus Consumer Protection Service or a qualified advisor.

Nothing in this policy limits any right you have under mandatory consumer protection law that can't be waived by agreement.
